A BEAUTIFUL LEGACY
/The brilliant Kevyn Aucoin, arguably fashion's first celebrity makeup artist, moved from rural Louisiana to New York City at 20 and his talent quickly won him multiple Vogue magazine covers and a slew of famous fans including Cindy Crawford, Cher, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Janet Jackson and Naomi Campbell.
His revolutionary how-to book "Making Faces" sealed his fame and instantly became a classic. In 2001 he launched his own makeup line that is still going strong today even though he died in 2002 after suffering from the rare disorder acromegaly.
On Sept. 14, LOGO TV debuts a new documentary about the beloved artist titled Kevyn Aucoin: Beauty & The Beast in Me filled with new interviews from his friends and clients and vintage footage he shot with his own camcorder.
Jeffre Scott Apothecary (607 Providence Road; 704-339-0010) carries the Kevyn Aucoin makeup line including one of The O Report's favorite products, the Sensual Skin Enhancer ($49). Aucoin created it after traveling to Japan and becoming inspired by the flawless complexions of the Geisha girls.
It comes in a tiny pot because a little goes a long way. It's lightweight and is available in a multitude of shades for the perfect match. Along with being waterproof, it's so versatile it can be used as a concealer, a highlighter, an all-over foundation, as a contour or a body foundation.
